The easy way to clean car seat belts
Car seat belt cleaning with steam vapour
When embarking on giving a car a good clean, the first applications that come to mind are usually how to get the duco shining like new, how to get the car seat steam cleaned and vacuumed to perfection and how to get the wheels looking pristine.
What can sometimes slip the mind of car wash facilities, car detailers and at-home car cleaners is how to get seat belts looking like new. Removing grime, oils, fingerprints and dirt that accumulate over time can be tricky exercise.
Interior car cleaning equipment can be known to leave car upholstery and leather wet for hours to even days. Traditionally, cleaning car seat belts is a multiple-step process which involves washing down seat belts with water and chemicals. The seat belt is then dragged out as far as it can reach and held outside by the car door to air dry. What a process!
Here is the easy way to clean car seat belts to ensure customers or your car is getting the best clean with the least amount of time and effort.
Depending on your cleaning needs, seat belts can be cleaned via a steam-only method or a steam-and-vacuum method.
1. Pull the seat belt down firmly
Pull the seat belt down firmly then use the nozzle or upholstery tool to touch the seat belt.
2. Slow steam and vacuum the belt using our upholstery tool going downwards.
Do this at a moderate speed that allows the steam to effectively break down grime and the vacuum to recover moisture.
Alternatively, you can just clamp a microfibre cloth to our triangle head tool and slow steam the belt going downwards. Then just repeat the process on the opposite side of the seat belt.
At Car Steam Cleaning, we recommend using a unit such as our “Jetvac Junior” machine that can perform seat belt cleaning, as well as a whole range of interior and exterior car cleaning jobs.
